Current Screenings

The Chambana Film Society is taking a short break from regular programming as we prepare for an exciting stretch of upcoming events.

Part of the reason is that we also run the Lake County Film Festival in Northern Illinois—please help spread the word if you know anyone in the area! I’ll actually be out of town during the festival myself, but it should be a great event.

We’re also gearing up for the upcoming Savoy Lumière, which will feature 23 screenings throughout April and May. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic series, and we’ve got a little bit of info below.

In the meantime, I’ve left you in the capable hands of Sanford Hess and Film Fanatic Movie Club. We’re teaming up to bring you a screening of what is arguably the most underrated film by my all-time favorite directors: The Man Who Wasn’t There by the Coen Brothers.

The screening is Thursday, March 19th at 7pm at Analog Wine Bar. Get your tickets at https://www.film-fanatic.club/

The 2nd Annual Savoy Lumière!

Today I’m excited to announce the schedule for this year’s festival and open sales for full festival badges.

When I return to town, I’ll announce the full lineup of film titles and put individual tickets on sale.

Unlike most festivals, this year’s event will extend beyond the traditional week-long format. In addition to the main festival running Wednesday, April 29 through Tuesday, May 5, we’ll also have three pre-festival screenings and three post-festival screenings.

Pre-Festival Screenings

The fun begins early on Tuesday, April 7, which happens to be International Beaver Day. To celebrate appropriately, I’m bringing back the cult favorite Hundreds of Beavers. I’m told the filmmakers may even have some special Beaver Day–related content for us.

Even better, Tuesdays are bargain day at the Savoy 16 + IMAX, meaning all shows are just $5 — including the beavers.

After that, we’ll have two additional pre-festival screenings later in April as we lead into the official start of the festival.

The festival officially begins on Wednesday, April 29 with a program of locally produced short films, followed by screenings throughout the week: another screening on Thursday, two on Friday, six screenings on Saturday, and five on Sunday, starting at 10:30 AM, and single screenings on both Monday, May 4 and Tuesday, May 5. A detailed schedule is provided below.

Post-Festival Screenings

The festival will also feature three post-festival screenings on the following Fridays:

  • May 8
  • May 15
  • May 22

These additional screenings will give audiences another chance to catch festival selections and special presentations after the main festival week concludes.

Today, I’m putting FULL BADGES on sale!

Like last year, these will be personalized, printed plastic collectible badges, and they are fully shareable.

While most individual tickets are $12, the 23-screening badge costs $160—an average of less than $7 per show.

For now, I’m putting 40 badges on sale. If they sell out, don’t worry—when I return to town on March 24th, I’ll determine how many additional badges I can release.
